DAY 5 -
Monday,
Sept 24
-
DAILY
QUOTES
Kristi
Libby
- We
have
been
blessed
on many
fronts…an
awesome
support
crew
that
works
well
together,
no rain,
and no
major
breakdowns.
I am
really
enjoying
riding
20 miles
a day.
It’s a
great
break
from
being on
the
support
crew,
which I
still
maintain
is a
harder
job. It
was
especially
great to
have our
friends
Dustin &
Carol
Wilson
visit us
in Elma
last
night.
It was a
short
visit,
but they
pitched
right in
helping
with
supper
preparation,
setting
up
tents,
and
grilling.
The
cookies
were
awesome
thank
you!
Joshua
Libby
- I am
having
the time
of my
life.
It’s
every
little
boys
dream to
be at a
different
campsite
every
night. I
am
loving
life!

Jesse Stevens
- the 3rd 100
mile day in a row –
although I rode around
the parking lot a few
times to get the last ¾
of a mile. WE are now
out of Washington and in
Oregon. I tried to keep
my pace slower today,
but, that didn’t quite
work the way I wanted.
There were lots of
hills, which I like, and
some tail winds that
helped too. I felt
pretty good all day,
except the last few
miles. I was ready for
the day to be done. We
rode over a 2 long
bridges today as we
crossed the state
border. One bride ended
up being 4.2 miles long,
with a steep climb at
the end – I hated both
of them. We had a 2 foot
wide lane to ride in,
with one lane of cars
riding the same
direction as us, and on
the other side was a
250’ drop into the water
(there was a rails, but
it was below my shoulder
height as I rode my
bike). The second bridge
was not as high, or
long, but a lower rail,
and more traffic. My
fingers were numb by the
time I got off the first
bridge because I was
holding the handlebars
so tight. By the way, I
don’t like heights
either.
One a much happier note,
the views of the WA
inlets, bays, and coves,
as we have been riding
through along the water
and in the mountains
have been gorgeous. The
landscape is like NH,
and the hilly part of
Pennsylvania, but add to
that the waterways.
Someday I will have to
take my family up here
for a trip. It is that
good. Also the rural
land and dairy farms
(including the smells)
in northern WA reminded
me of growing up in
Charlton, MA. Looking
forward to seeing more
sights.
Kimberly Mejerski
– We have seen some
different wildlife this
trip, including a couple
of Blue Herrons and 2
deers at the roadside
were eating in someone’s
yard.
Jeff Schwimer -
Great day today. So far
we made it through to
Oregon. My favorite part
of this ride today was
crossing over a 4.2 mile
long bridge, that
extends from Washington
to Oregon. I am looking
forward to tomorrows
ride.
Wes and Shirley Assink
- we are on a JOURNEY!!!
A Challenge to feed 21
people, ooops 25 people,
ooops 27 people for
breakfast. We made it
the first day and with
His Help the rest of the
way. It is awesome to
see these people riding
bikes for 100 miles a
day. And they are
smiling at the end of
each day.
To the 6 J’s from the 2
J’s
- your Hamma Hamma mamma
is doing great. We have
been staying up late
playing cards with
Grandma and Grandpa.

Ron Thomas
- we are waiting for you
to come and join us in
the back of the pack
We don’t need someone
else to laugh at but you
will definitely add to
our good time.
Barkley Village Family
Dentistry. I have
finished 3 days – 100
miles a day and I am
still walking. We have
conquered the State of
Washington and tonight
we are across the 4 mile
bridge at Astoria. We
are spoiled rotten in
Mom and Dad’s motorhome.
Some are sleeping in
tents. They are 24 of
us total with 16
bikers. We have a two
year old who rides part
of the day and a dog who
rides on Mary’s back.
Jan
Jody
– I give thanks to God
that I can be on this
trip. It’s very hard and
very stretching and very
good. The ride was long
but there was lots of
beautiful scenery. I
have many memories from
our trip across country.
I’m especially grateful
for the opportunity to
draft and ride with
others today. I have ice
on my knees as I write.
I’m hoping this will
help them. I’m sure your
prayers will too.
Dave
– Another 99 mile day
with lots of sun and
beautiful scenery. I was
reminded of the beauty
we recently saw in New
Zealand and it made me
think of our good
friends down under who
are praying for us. It
was fun to cross the
Columbia River and enter
the state of Oregon
today. We only have 2
states left and about
1400 miles to go.
Craig
- The westerly approach
towards the Pacific
Coast provided a route
of absolute beauty
today. Just 8 miles
from our campsite we
were pleased to cross
the might Columbia River
and enter Oregon. It’s
almost hard to believe
we have completed 298
miles in 3 days. The
support crew is doing a
wonderful job. The
greater number of riders
this time requires more
logistics as riders of
different abilities
naturally spreads our
support crew out over
several miles. I want
to thank Doug Haines at
www.Americanwebdoctors.com
for creating our website
and posting our
comments.
