Jody – Most often
I’m looking forward to
when I can stop riding.
However, today we rode a
stretch through the
redwoods that I didn’t
want to end. I was in
awe of the tall giants.
I noticed they had such
a strong presence but
they were so quiet and
still that one could
have passed them without
noticing them. They
don’t really draw
attention to themselves.
They reminded me of God
and His qualities –
humble, strong, etc. I
felt very small but not
in a fearful way. It was
more of an awareness of
how Grand God is and how
Grand the redwoods are
and it was comforting. I
felt very loved and
small and safe and
peaceful. One can
worship God anytime
anyplace doing anything
and I highly recommend
worshiping Him on a bike
in a redwood forest.
It’s breathtaking even
when you’re not out of
breath from pedaling.
Not only were the
redwoods amazing, but
the road was great in
that section too. We did
a lot of climbing today
and that was hard. The
down hills were exciting
and sometimes
challenging as well. The
ride through the
redwoods was worth it
all though. I give
thanks to God for having
completed another day
and experiencing my
Creator in a beautiful
way. It was fun to see
some elk in the wild
too.
Dave – Today’s
ride from Crescent City
to Eureka was 82 miles
through beautiful
redwood forests and lots
of hills. Our total
mileage is now 755
miles. Brad Neil tried
to avoid a steep hill by
taking a shortcut. He
ended up climbing
through the forest on
foot with his bicycle
but he didn’t have to
back track. We were sad
to say good-bye to one
of our motor homes –
they had only planned to
be with us the first
week. Jody and I were
especially sad to see
them go because they
provided great
accommodations for us.
They were such a
blessing! We really
appreciated their
support on this
adventure.
Brad- Another day of eat
pedal, eat pedal, eat
pedal, eat, sleep. I
had an adventure today.
I took a road on my map
just to stay along the
coast but the map didn’t
show it dead ended 3
miles in. So I could
take the walking trail
thinking it would hook
up to the road make it
to breakfast however
much to everyone’s
surprise even mine. And
the woods were
beautiful. For a while I
wondered if I’d get out
of the woods before
dark. Lots of hills
again today. Yesterday I
rocked up them to the
sounds of Judy Blue Eyes
Suite. Today it was
more like Enya and Sandy
Patty. We did see some
elk and really big
trees. So here we are
eating pizza in Eureka,
CA, and drinking ROOT
beer. Rats! I about
froze to death last
night hope it is warmer
tonight and fewer dogs
serenading us. Praise
God that we are all
still healthy and in
good spirits though some
of the bikes have need
some.
Craig – It was
another beautiful ride
today. This morning’s
route took us right
through the Redwoods
National Forrest. We
encountered several
steep climbs today but
the Redwoods and elk
were amazing.
Josh – I really
don’t appreciate having
to put sunscreen on my
face before I go
riding. I do everything
possible to avoid it but
I know I have to put it
on in order to ride.
I rode with Daddy just
13 miles today but I had
a great time riding up
and down the mountain
passes. Tonight we are
staying in an KOA which
has a playground which I
enjoyed very much.
Kristi – It was a
great day. We ordered
out for pizza.
